About
Philipp Möde – Artist, Visual Storyteller & VFX Specialist
Between urban visual culture, digital art and cinematic illusion – this is where Philipp Möde’s work as an artist and digital artist unfolds. His roots lie in street art and visual design. From there he developed a versatile artistic practice that combines free creative work with digital technologies and keeps exploring new possibilities of visual storytelling.
As a 2D and 3D artist he specialises in lighting, rendering, look development and compositing. His particular interest lies in the interplay of light, colour, materiality and atmosphere – the design elements that give digital images depth, character and credibility. With a keen sense of image composition and a solid technical understanding, he moves confidently between artistic concept and complex visual production pipelines.
His career has taken him from creative studios in Germany to international animation and film productions. He has worked on Disney’s Ice Age: The Adventures of Buck Wild and on Kangaroo Chroniken, among others, gaining experience in professional lighting, look development and compositing workflows. Working on international productions shapes his view of digital image worlds as much as his understanding of how artistic vision, technical precision and collaboration come together.
His diploma studies in animation at the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf laid the foundation for his work at the intersection of design and technology. Specialising in virtual, augmented and extended reality broadened his view beyond the classic film image towards immersive spaces and interactive worlds of experience. Alongside his work in the film and animation industry he continued to develop his practice in virtual production, digital reconstruction and spatial installations. As VFX Supervisor of a third-party-funded research project at the Film University Babelsberg, he worked on the virtual reconstruction of ancient Rome and on connecting cinematic image design with immersive technologies.
Teaching visual design is also an important part of how he sees his profession. For several years Philipp Möde taught and supervised student projects at Media Design Hochschule Berlin and the Film University Babelsberg. There he combined design fundamentals with the practical application of professional VFX workflows and passed on his production experience to the next generation of artists.
What defines his work is the interplay of artistic curiosity, technical understanding and a joy of experimentation. He moves between fine art and industrial film production, between classic image design and immersive technologies. He is interested in how new tools and visual methods can be used to create distinctive image worlds, push technical boundaries and translate ideas into images and spaces that move people, surprise them or change their perspective.

Overview
Protecting your personal data is important to me. This page explains which data is processed when you visit. The content (About, Portfolio, Reels, Education) can be viewed without providing any personal data.
Login and data security
The “Media Hub” area and any other restricted areas are only accessible with a username and password. The following data is processed: username, the password exclusively as a cryptographic hash (the plain-text password is not stored), and a random session ID in the session cookie. The purpose is to protect the content from unauthorised access (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Technical and organisational measures (Art. 32 GDPR):
- Transmission exclusively encrypted via HTTPS (TLS)
- Passwords are stored and verified on the server using a hashing method (
password_hash) - Session cookie with the attributes
Secure,HttpOnlyandSameSite - Protected files are not freely accessible on the server and are only delivered after a successful login
- Administrative functions (upload, edit, delete, account management) are reserved exclusively for the administrator
- Each customer has their own separate file area; on every request the server checks that only files belonging to the account are delivered
- Protection against automated password guessing: after several failed attempts login is blocked for a short time
The session cookie is deleted when the browser is closed or when you log out. It is technically necessary and does not require consent (§ 25 (2) TDDDG). No tracking or marketing cookies are used.
Customer accounts and customer files
For clients I set up a personal account on request. The following is processed: username, display or company name, the password exclusively as a hash, the time of account creation, and the files provided for the respective project (e.g. images, videos, 3D models). The purpose is the performance of the order or contract and the secure delivery of the results (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). A customer’s files are neither visible nor accessible to other customers. Customers can also upload video files to their own area; these are only accessible to the respective account and the administrator. The account and all associated files are deleted as soon as they are no longer needed, at the latest [e.g. 12 months after project completion, subject to statutory retention obligations].
Protection against login abuse
For failed login attempts, the IP address, the username entered and the time are stored for 15 minutes and then deleted automatically. After several failed attempts login is temporarily blocked. The purpose is to defend against attacks on the accounts (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Hosting and server log files
This site is hosted by [Name and address of the hosting provider] . The server automatically records technically necessary data (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser information) in log files. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (secure and stable operation). Log files are deleted after [e.g. 7 / 14 / 30] days. A data processing agreement with the hosting provider (Art. 28 GDPR) is in place [please conclude and confirm].
